Please tell us more about your latest Chinese single “Agape”. Do you have any memorable experiences from recording the song or shooting the music video?
The recording was tough and long. My management put a lot of thought and focus on this single. The song is about a mother who sacrificed her life during the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. During the song recording, I imagined myself as the mother who lost her beloved child, and it took me some time to get into this scenario.
Do you have any musical influences that you would love to meet in person? Someone you look up to?
When I was young, I like R&B songs, so Whitney Houston and Boyz II Men are two of my influences. I always practice their songs, and I can sing almost all their songs.
You have a dog named “Beyonce”. Who takes care of your pet when you’re out of the country? Do you have any interesting stories to tell about your pet?
My housekeeper takes care of Beyonce if I’m away for just a short period of time, but if I am going away longer, my friend will help take care because Beyonce is fat and eats a lot. I bought Beyonce when she was only two-months-old. Beyonce was small and cute, and now she’s also adorable and calm. Beyonce has grown so big because she eats a lot. She loves eating! She’s like a good friend; we go out jogging together and she’s always there for me whenever I am sad.
Because you like to study astronomy in your free time, what is your favourite science fiction movie?
I recently watched a movie called Gravity, which is about the galaxy. While watching the film, I felt like I was in space myself.
Describe your most memorable experience with fans.
There is a fan who has been with me since the year 2008. This fan will always come to the airport to take photos of me no matter how early my flight or how tired he/she is. Moreover, he/she actually lives quite far from the airport, so I really appreciate his/her support.
Are there any Chinese/Korean singer or actor/actress that you are close with?
I am close with the China-line (Chinese K-Pop artists). Recently I went to eat hotpot with miss A’s Jia & Fei in Korea.
Which SM Entertainment artists are you friends with?
I am close with Tao (EXO), Zhou Mi (Super Junior-M) and Victoria from f(x).
What Korean dramas have you been watching lately?
I haven’t seen any Korean dramas recently. The last drama I watched was My Love from Another Star.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Five years from now, I hope I will be busy doing concert tours and producing a lot of songs that everybody likes. Right now I am working hard towards that direction!
Do you have any special regimen that you do before singing? How do you keep our voice as lovely as it is now?
I would warm up voice before singing, through activities like jogging. Your vocals are actually quite fragile, we can’t overwork our voice. I would also drink a lot of warm water and get enough sleep.
