It’s been a quiet year for Chocolyn and Zhang Liyin.

Since returning to China back in the spring of 2017, we have not heard much from her. We know that she visited her hometown and she visited relatives, but on the career front, it’s been relatively quiet.

Her new management company, Show City Times, was dealt with a serious blow to their artist roster last summer when their most successful artist, Jane Zhang, left the agency. We have no idea how this will affect Liyin’s career at the company.

At the beginning of this, Show City Times finally showed – pun intended – sign of reviving Zhang Liyin’s career. They shared a photo of Liyin on their Weibo page as part of their New Year wishes to their fans. Although the agency used an old photo of Liyin, this is the first time Show City Times has ever mentioned Liyin in a public post.

In mid-January, fans found new photos taken of Liyin at a supposed TV show recording. The music show, called “Voice Choice” or “Choice of Songs” at the time, was filmed over the course of two days. It was a pleasant surprise to fans as the news appeared out of nowhere!

On February 11th, we finally received word from TV show producers that the show – now officially called Singing Choice – will premiere February 15th on Beijing TV. After the premiere, Beijing TV released teaser trailers for their second episode, thereby announcing Liyin’s first appearance on the show.

In the days following the original teaser trailer, Beijing TV and the show sponsors release video clips of the Liyin introducing herself to the audience. It’s been ages since we’ve seen her on new marketing videos!

Zhang Liyin performed a classic Chinese song, “The Clouds from My Hometown” (故乡的云) on the show. The song was originally released by artist, Wen Zhang. When the TV network releases the performance on their YouTube channel, we will share it in a new post.
