Zhang Liyin debuted as early as 2006 and was the second Chinese artist to advance into Korea. She’s also the only Chinese solo female artist in SM Entertainment. In August of this year, she released her 3rd Chinese single “Agape”, which cast EXO’s member Tao, f(x)’s leader Victoria, and Korean actor Song Jaerim as actors for the MV. In late September, she released her 4th Chinese single “Not Alone” and the music video, which had the same 3 actors, completed the story started by the previous MV. During the interview, Zhang Liyin highly praised: “I greatly admire Victoria. In the music video, she had to act out two completely different people and was able to switch back and forth between different states of mind at any time. She was very capable.” She also disclosed that her relationship with EXO was pretty good. They would invite each other out for small gatherings in private. When we started talking about Tao who helped her film her MV, she said: “In private, Tao is a very lively child, which is different from what’s shown on screen.”

Prior to the official interview with I Love Idols, the show’s host, Ken Wu, stealthily surprise attacked Zhang Liyin who was still in the middle of putting on makeup. He forcefully charged through the door and even straightforwardly opened her purse and searched through it. He ended up finding a half eaten chocolate at the scene. Zhang Liyin sheepishly said: “I’m very forgetful. Often times I’ll put something away, forget about it and then loose it!” Ken Wu knows she loves maintaining her health, so he specially prepared bitter melon juice to “force” her to drink at the scene. After Zhang Liyin finished drinking, she even sang a verse from her new song live on the spot. Her singing talent is amazing.
